Russia: U.S. Wants New Cold War

MOSCOW - Russia has accused the United States (U.S.) trying to generate a new Cold War after the U.S. Congress passed legislation that would prohibit Russian citizens entering the United States. The question is a Russian citizen suspected of violating their human rights.

"Apparently, Washington will have forgotten this year and they thought that the Cold War is still going on," the Russian foreign ministry said, as quoted by the Telegraph, Saturday (12/08/2012).

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov affirmed that his country ready to respond to U.S. actions by imposing similar policies. Russia may impose a ban on visas for U.S. citizens who violate human rights.
Legislation that passed the U.S. Congress referring to incidents of death Sergei Magnitsky, a lawyer involved in the issue of tax scandal. According to the Kremlin human rights council, confirmed Magnitsky died because he was beaten in prison.

Magnitsky was a lawyer at the law firm Firestone Duncan in Moscow. Magnitsky client is an asset management company from the UK, Hermitage Capital Management, which operates in Russia.

Hermitage Capital Management could provide information to the media about the alleged corruption in a number of Russian officials. In 2007, the office of Hermitage and Firestone Duncan in Moscow searched by police. Magnitsky finally came to investigate the incident.

The idea arcing legislation was initiated by Arizona Senator John McCain. McCain is a man who has always opposed the Russians, especially President Vladimir Putin.

The clash between the U.S. and Russia resumed recently. U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton also began making his criticism of Russia's ambitions to build Eurasian Union. For Clinton, it is a step in Russia's ambition to revive the Soviet Union.
