Stumbling Corruption, Israeli Foreign Minister resigns

TEL AVIV - Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman, resigned from his post after being accused of abuse of power by the prosecution in Israel. Lieberman is known for very close to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Liberman is a controversial figure and has radical thoughts, particularly related to the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians. Liberman also the strongest ally owned by PM Netanyahu.

Netanyahu's Likud party alliances with parties origin Lieberman, Yisrael Beiteinu in the elections that will be held five weeks in the Jewish State.

"I actually was not obliged to retreat. But I decided to relinquish the position of foreign minister and deputy prime minister, "Lieberman said in a statement issued, as quoted by AAP, Sunday (12/16/2012).

Lieberman stated, would return to politics after he managed to prove his innocence on charges of abuse of power.

"I ask the court to settle my case before the election on 22 January. I hope I can get back to politics before the election hosted by, "said Lieberman.

In addition to the abuse of power, Lieberman is also suspected of corruption such as money laundering and fraud. Many parties expressed prosecutors only prosecute Israel for acts of abuse of power Lieberman to avoid political pressures are too great.
