Abbas Will Not Use the UN to press Israel

NEW YORK - The success of improving the status of Palestinian membership in the United Nations (UN) to non-member observer state, allowing them to enter the International Criminal Court (ICC). This could be used to impeach Israel Palestine.

As is known, the Palestinians have the support of 138 UN member states to the new membership status. This status could bring a member of the Palestinian UN bodies including the ICC.

Become a member of the ICC can make the Palestinians to take action against Israel for their past crimes. Through the ICC, the Palestinians can sue Israel for war crimes for attacks they did to the Palestinians.

As reported by the Associated Press on Friday (11/30/2012) can also seek winning Palestinian territory in the disputed land between the two countries.

But Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas signaled that it would not use the membership status for Palestine, to bring Israel to justice. Abbas seems to be using this status so that Palestine can be located together with Israel, in peace negotiations between the two countries.

Israel Palestinian assess efforts to improve the status of membership will only damage the peace that is currently stalled. The same thing also expressed the United States (U.S.), which is known as a supporter of Israel.
