Recent findings Cause Extinction of Dinosaurs

Scientists discover dinosaur already endangered long before the catastrophe.
Research results derail the idea of dinosaurs healthy and happy life before the attack asteroid.

Most people believe dinosaurs were wiped off the earth because of catastrophe around 65 million years ago, such as ice ages, volcanic activity, and asteroid impacts.

The research team found the dinosaur extinct gradually. Decline in their numbers declined for sure.

The study, led by the U.S. National Museum of Natural History gave different answers to explain the decline of the dinosaurs. These scientists found a giant herbivorous creatures such as Brachiosaurus die slowly over the last 12 million years of the Cretaceous. This period took place in the late Paleocene to early Jurassic period. This period is the longest, covering nearly half Mosozoikum era.

The findings were published on May 1, 2012 in the journal Nature Communications. Research results derail the idea of dinosaurs healthy and happy life before the attack asteroid.

"Are volcanic eruptions or asteroid impacts occur when dinosaurs still excellent condition? We find this issue is more complex than that. Probably not caused by sudden catastrophic commonly portrayed," said the study's lead author, Steve Brusatte who is also an alumnus of Columbia University graduate, United States, as quoted from page Dailymail.co.uk.

According to Brusatte, these ancient herbivores already endangered before the hit occurred. However, medium-sized herbivorous dinosaurs and not problematic. In many cases, determining the location of the dinosaur extinction.

These findings obtained by "morphological disparity" or diversity of dinosaur body structure. While previous research based on a change in the number of dinosaurs.

Scientists Ludwig Maximilian University, Munich, Germany, Richard Butler explained the study to compare the dinosaur body type may provide a better explanation.

Dinosaurs had big differences with each other. There are hundreds of species alive at the end of the Cretaceous. The big difference lies in the eating dinosaurs, shapes, and sizes. Each group developed different ways.

Research found the herbivorous dinosaurs, hadrosaurs and ceratopsids, have experienced declines in biodiversity since 12 million years before it finally disappeared.

According to Maximilian, the end of the Cretaceous period is not a static world plagued asteroid impacts.

"Some dinosaurs underwent a dramatic change for some time. Herbivores are thought to have faced substantial decline in the long term," he added.
