MANILA - The Philippines attracted several brands of instant noodles from South Korea (ROK) for allegedly contain substances that can cause cancer. Similar actions have previously been carried out China, Taiwan and Vietnam.
Food and drug regulatory authorities in the Philippines claimed that the South Korean company's instant noodles made Nongshim Co. will be withdrawn from circulation as soon as possible. They contribute asked residents to report instances of instant noodles is still trading.
"The government is also run tests on brands other instant noodles to find out if they contain any cancer boosters as well", say Filipino food regulatory authorities on its website, as quoted by AFP on Friday (02/11/2012).
Substance hyper cancer in instant noodles were first discovered in Korea. At least 6 brand contains benzopyrene compounds that are known to cause cancer.
It is not known whether the Philippine authorities do examination of the brands themselves or follow the recommendations of the authority food from other countries.
