After 49 Years, Postcards Up to Destination

Maidenhead - A postcard sent by a gentleman from Germany, it was not until after nearly half a century ditujuannya sent. The postcard was sent by a German man for pen pal.

Jason and Anna Crabtree was surprised when there was a letter sent from Germany are on the doorstep of their home in Maidenhead, Berkshire. The postcard was sent from Bad Godesberg near Bonn and was sent on March 13, 1963.

After apparently receiving postcards tracked is Derek Lewis, 71, a retired soldier grandfather who used to live in their homes.

"We were surprised to note that still have the original stamp and still in good condition. We also wondered why it could happen for years. Would be very interesting if we could trace the person who should receive it," said Jason Crabtree, such as quoted by the Daily Mail, Friday (16/11/2012).

Lewis said the card came from his pen, Gudrun Rentrope, which he had written for him since he was 17 years old. Postcard was sent 49 years ago.

Gudrun had sent postcards as a thank you for Lewis welcomed his father during a visit to England.

"Postcard thanked me for keeping him and deliver gifts. He is a very loved. Was a pretty fun time in my life," said Lewis.

"In those days people did not have a zip code and I think this is one reason it's gone. I can not imagine how it could be re-sent again."

The card is stamped by the Royal Mail in Swindon on Monday, October 29, 2012. The Royal Mail has dismissed the possibility that they have omitted this card.

"It is quite possible that the letter is still in our delivery system over the years," said spokeswoman Candice MacDonald.
