TOKYO - A 66-year-old grandfather get jail punishment for 1 year 2 months for stealing money JPY10. The money was stolen from a charity box grandfather was a temple in the city of Wakayama, Japan.
Grandfather named Masafumi Tsuruhara actually demanded 20 months imprisonment by the prosecutor, but the judge then reduce the prisoner's grandfather being only 1 year 2 months only, as reported by The News, Saturday (22/12/2012).

The judge handling the case stated 20-month imprisonment given by the prosecution was considered too heavy for those who have entered old age as Tsuruhara. Therefore he decided to reduce the detention period by 8 months old man.
Nevertheless the judge still insisted that what Tsuruhara is still a crime and should be punished. Theft under Japanese law can be punished with imprisonment up to 10 years.

"The deeds done Tsuruhara was wrong in the eyes of the law, it must still accept the punishment. He was just stealing JPY10, but his actions were still theft, "the judge said.
Tsuruhara denied he intended to commit a criminal act, he stole the money JPY10 it's just because kidding attitude. The old man also stated that he would appeal to a higher court level.
