BRUSSELS - A total of 12 member states of the European Union confirmed support for the Palestinians who wish to renew their status at the United Nations (UN). Voting membership is also ready to Palestine at the end of November.

According to EU spokesman Maja Kocijancic, the foreign ministers of all EU countries will debate and discuss the issue of Palestine in Brussels, Belgium, on 19 November. EU still divided in dealing with the Palestinian issue.

"The European Union judge, negotiation is the best way to solve the problem of the Middle East peace," said Kocijancic, EU Observer quoted on Friday (11/09/2012).

A senior EU officials argue, the Palestinian application in the UN General Assembly the same thing as the Palestinian proposal for UN membership to the Board of Education, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Dozens of European Union member states, including France supports the Palestinian application.

Dozens of European Union countries include Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Finland, France, Greece, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Slovenia and Spain. Meanwhile, countries that abstained from voting Palestinian Unesco are Bulgaria, Denmark, Estonia, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Romania and the UK. And who declined among others, Czech, Germany, Lithuania, the Netherlands and Sweden.

Palestinians claim the same status as that carried the Vatican in the UN and recognition of Palestine based on 1967 boundaries. Palestinians have drafted a resolution that will be presented.

According to reports, a vote will be held on 15 and 29 November. Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat called it like "sword pointed at the neck of Israel." That's because when the Palestinians managed to renew its status, the Palestinians are entitled to join the International Criminal Court and charged Israel.

Israel did not want to lose and direct lobbying to a number of European countries to block Palestinian efforts. United States (U.S.) helped Israel to spread memo to UN member states. The U.S. also said it will update the status of negative consequences for the peace process and the UN system.
