Sudan Ammunition Plant Explosion

The fire lit up the sky looks Sudan's capital,
 Khartoum, at Yarmouk munitions factory 
 exploded in the southern city, on Wednesday  
(24/10/2012) morning.
KHARTOUM - The fire and the sound of explosions occurred in Khartoum after a munitions factory owned Yarmouk military, exploded on Wednesday (24/10/2012) morning.
 
The military blocked the road to the plant site, while firefighters tried to extinguish. After two hours, the fire was under control.
Governor of Khartoum, Abdelrahman al-Khidr, said a number of people were taken to hospital with smoke inhalation but in general, this incident did not cause casualties. Sudan news agency, SUNA.

Governor of Al-Khidr said that so far the fire and the cause of the explosion is not yet known. To local television, he said the explosion likely occurred in the ammunition storage warehouse.

"From the initial inquiry, an explosion occurred in the storage room," said the governor of Al-Khidr.

He dismissed speculation that the explosion was caused by munitions factory "other things".

In a report released by an independent Swiss, Small Arms Survey, last September found no evidence that the alleged weapons and ammunition from China moved to Yarmouk industrial complex.

From there, the weapons were then transferred to Darfur in the last decade was plagued by bloody conflict.
